LONDON, Oct 18 (Reuters) - The British Museum said on Wednesday it planned to digitise its entire collection citing the need to secure public access its vast catalogue after it reported in August that 2,000 artefacts had been stolen or were missing. The museum, one of the most visited in the world, has been dealing with the aftermath of thefts which highlighted internal failings and led to the exit of its director. "We have taken steps to improve security and are now confident that a theft of this kind can never happen again," the British Museum's interim director, Mark Jones, said in a statement. "But we cannot and must not assume that the security of the collection, in a wider sense, can be achieved simply by locking everything away. The museum sacked a member of staff over the incident, which is also being investigated by London's Metropolitan Police.

CNN —Few media figures in the last 27 years have had a larger and more profound effect on American political and media life than Rupert Murdoch. Ailes, who helped Richard Nixon get elected president in 1968, specialized in the political use of media. Again, Murdoch is not the only reason for the lack of trust in the media and the flood of disinformation and misinformation. CNN —An independent report into the culture of cricket in England and Wales has found racism, class-based discrimination, elitism and sexism to be “widespread” and “deep rooted” in the sport. The “Holding a Mirror Up to Cricket” report was written by the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) and received more than 4,400 responses to its call for evidence between oral and written submissions. … The decline in Black cricket in England and Wales has been well documented and subject to much public debate for many years. The UK government said last August it would advance a bill in the current parliamentary session, which is expected to end this autumn, providing detailed regulations by 2025. That has not yet happened, with political turmoil forcing the government to water down ambitions for this session. Transport Minister Mark Harper in December said there would no longer be a Transport Bill this session, and did not mention a separate AV bill in an outline of the ministry's legislative agenda.
